The Pegasus Review: a Medical Literary Journal

The Review is accepting submissions from trainees and requested material only at this time. Please Check Back Soon and Follow Our website at www.thepegasusreview.com for Submission Calls and News.

The Pegasus Review welcomes submissions of creative written and visual pieces to be represented in our upcoming Spring 2024 issue, from students and professionals in the medical field. The overarching theme to guide this year's issue is "Tending to an open wound."

Open wound is a cause of disease or complication from surgical treatment. Wounds serve as reminders for injuries that our bodies bear. We invite submissions that explore the concept of open wounds, those which we experience personally or inflict upon others, in both a physical and metaphorical sense. How do we choose to tend to our open wounds, why do they take time to heal, and what remains when the healing process comes to an end?

We are currently accepting original, unpublished work of any genre (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, visual art) that engages with our issue's theme. The deadline for submission is June 28th, 2024 at 11:59pm.

There is no submission fee for currently enrolled medical students, residents, and fellows. We encourage working medical professionals to pay a small submission fee ($20), which will be directed towards support of medical humanities initiatives organized by the Pegasus Physician Writers group.
